The Postgraduate Psychiatric Education at the Graduate School

Abstract
The graduates and students in the psychiatric subspeciality of medicine at the graduate school were asked with the specially prepared questionaire on their experiences at the graduate school and their personal opinions on its way of education. Among 43 responders the majority(93.0%) of them were revealed as unsatisfied with their study by reason of the duplicity of postgraduate educational system in medicine; the residency training on the one ha nd and the education at graduate school on the other hand. It was apparent that many enter unwillingly the graduate school during their residency training just for the sake of degree and the graduate school offers far less opportunity to specify their knowledge and problem solving ability in the specific field of medical science than residency training program. Some suggested a repeal of postgraduate school for the specialist education of the medical science. Discussions has been held about the possibilities to reform the postgraduate education in medical science and. also the curriculum for postg raduate psychiatric education. The Swiss- and German system of medical education and the residency training programs of some universities in America were taken into consideration.
